Ahuehuete, “viejo de las aguas”

Un árbol mágnifico y muy mexicano, también conocido como: Ciprés Mexicano o Sabino. El nombre Ahuehuete viene del náhuatl Huéhuetl, viejo, y Atl, agua. Árboles milenarios, pueden llegar a vivir más de 2,000 años. Son gigantes (20 a 30 metros), que se desarrollan a la orilla de los ríos y arroyos en gran parte del territorio nacional. Requieren de mucha agua y de climas templados, se ubican principalmente en lugares con una altitud entre los 2000 y 3000 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Cuentan con una copa abierta e irregular y un tronco muy grueso. 

Ayer fui al mercado de plantas y flores en Xochimilco, junto al canal de Cuemanco en el sur de la ciudad de México. Quería comprar unas plantas comestibles y tenerlas en macetas en mi cocina. El mercado es uno de varios que hay en la zona y es bastante grande y bien surtido. Compre: chile piquín, epazote, cebollin, albahaca, oregano, cilantro, perejil, menta y romero. De regreso  a la camioneta, me enamoré de un Ahuehuete “Bonsai”. Lucía magnífico e imponente en su pequeña maceta y lo compre. No cabe duda que la naturaleza nos ofrece las mejores obras de arte y alimenta nuestro espíritu. 

Bonsai: palabra japonesa que significa literalmente: bandeja de la naturaleza, sus antecedentes etimológicos provienen del término chino penjing o penzai, que significa:  cultivar en bandeja. Es el arte  de cultivar árboles y plantas, reduciendo su tamaño mediante diferentes técnicas. 

El arte de los bonsáis se originó en China, fue objeto de culto para los monjes taoístas en los últimos dos mil años. Símbolo de eternidad, el árbol representa un puente entre lo divino y lo humano, el cielo y la tierra.

Espero que las fotografías sean un puente entre ustedes y yo, que me permitan compartirles la alegría que me da contemplar este bello ejemplar: regalo la naturaleza.

    Tengo la fortuna de verlo de cerca y poder admirarlo, es increible observar cada parte de él, su color, su tronco, sus ramas… todo es tan perfercto y pensar que vivirá mucho pero mucho más que yo… Es perfecta la naturaleza…
